英国气象类专业详解

                           气象学概况                                                                      

（meteorology）

气象学是把大气当作研究的客体，从定性和定量两方面来说明大气特征的学科，集中研究大气的天气情况和变化规律和对天气的预报。气象学是大气科学的一个分支。

研究大气中物理现象和物理过程及其变化规律的科学。气象学的研究领域很广，研究方法的差异很大。气象学分成许多分支学科：大气物理学、天气学、动力气象学、气候学等等。随着生产的发展，气象学的应用日益广泛，又相继出现海洋气象学、航空气象学，农业气象学、森林气象学、污染气象学等应用学科。现代科学技术在气象学领域的应用，又有新的分支学科出现，如雷达气象学、卫星气象学、宇宙气象学等。气象学是一门和生产、生活密切相关的涉及许多学科的应用科学。

                           就业方向                                                                      

应用气象学专业的学生毕业后主要是到中国气象局下属各省、地、县等一些气象部门，特别是到气象台工作；另外就是到民航系统的气象台；再就是到部队去工作，尤其是空军。还可以到环保部门及相关的电力部门就业等等。虽然该专业就业面不是很宽，但由于目前中国高校开设此类专业较少，因而毕业生也很少，根据人才市场供需数量分析和国家对此类问题的重视程度看，毕业生的就业前景不错。

雷丁大学（University of Reading）MSc Applied Meteorology

雷丁大学是一所国际性大学，约有1.2万名学生，其中4600位是研究生，海外学生来自于130多个不同的国家。雷丁大学是一个住宿制大学，特别重视科研与研究生教育，学校设有43个系，5大学科，在官方的教学五科研评估中分数很高。

主要课程：

Term 1 module: Introduction to weather systems; atmospheric physics; introduction to computing; forecasting systems and applications; measurements and instrumentation.

Term 2 modules: Boundary layer meteorology; options: statistics for weather and climate science; hydrology and global environmental change; remote sensing; climate change and tropical weather systems.

入学要求：

Applicants should have at least a 2nd Class Honours degree in a mathematical or physical science; degrees in environmental or agricultural sciences or geography may also be acceptable if mathematics & physics have been studied to A-level or equivalent.

Evidence of English Language ability will be required. Usually this means an IELTS (or suitable equivalent) score of 6.5

Applied Meteorology and Climate with Management (MSc)

入学要求：

Entrants to this course are normally required to have obtained a good honours degree in a physical, environmental or engineering science. 'A' level physics or mathematics is usually required. Students with other qualifications may be admitted subject to a satisfactory performance in a preparatory course.

Evidence of English Language ability will be required. Usually this means an IELTS (or suitable equivalent) score of 6.5.

Atmosphere, Ocean & Climate (MSc)

主要课程：

Introduction to weather systems; atmospheric physics; fluid dynamics; introductory numerical modelling; numerical modelling of atmospheres and oceans; dissertation; plus options including: dynamics of tropical and extra-tropical weather systems; climate change; global circulation; boundary layer meteorology; remote sensing.

入学要求：

Some experience with computer programming may be helpful; 2nd Class degree in physics, mathematics or a closely related subject; admission to the diploma may be possible with slightly lower qualifications; other qualifications may be acceptable subject to a satisfactory performance in preparatory programme in the preceding year.
